Laboratório Passarinho
A workshop where children and young people from Saco dos Limões build musical instruments using reclaimed materials.

Laboratório Passarinho began with a simple question: what happens when you give a group of children scissors, glue and scrap materials and ask them to invent a sound?
Over six weeks, thirty young people aged 8 to 14 built instruments from plastic bottles, cans, rubber bands and bamboo. Each instrument gained a name, a story and its own repertoire. The process culminated in a presentation open to the neighborhood — a chance to share what had been learned and invented.
The lab showed that music can be a starting point for creative autonomy: those who make the instrument choose the sound; those who choose the sound begin to hear the world differently.
